A large-scale project for Elisa Monreal
A wall mural created by artists Elisa Monreal (a.k.a. Shalak) and Carlos Ortiz (a.k.a. Guko), entitled Nord/Sud, was completed this past summer in the Plateau Mont-Royal district, on a building on Duluth avenue, between Coloniale and de Bullion. The point of the mural is to explore various concepts based on the duality and coexistence between North and South America. Through this mega-mural, the artists want to honour and represent the multiple facets of the Latino-Canadian community. They also hope to inspire passers-by and increase the neighbourhood’s image and sense of pride.
The two artists have posted on YouTube a series of videos created by Alain Thibault detailing the evolution of their work. These are the first two videos: MURALE NORTE SUR (1) and MURALE NORTE SUR (2). To see the other videos and get a glimpse of the artists’ colossal work, search YouTube for “Murale Norte Sur.”
Great visibility for the Atelier “alenverre”

Art à part shows its colours
In winter 2006, painter Gaby Labbé took the Business Coaching for Women Artists of All Disciplines program. After 12 weeks of classes and coaching on how to start a company, she felt equipped and confident enough to create Art à part, her company that imports and distributes high quality artist colours.
Art à part presents its paint colours to all painters wanting to work with superior quality colours. Blockx colours are now available in Quebec!
The Art à part company now offers the legendary Bloxkx colours, created based on an ancestral method that has remained unchanged since 1864. Blockx paints are saturated with pure and rare pigments. The pigments are finely ground with top-quality binders until they form a buttery, pliant and unalterable paste. These intense colours are recognized around the world for their exceptional quality. Dali praised them, Magritte used them… Why don’t you?
Give yourself the best! www.artapart.ca Blockx extra-fine watercolour, Blockx extra-fine oil, dissolved amber. Four historical oil colours: lapis lazuli blue, light and dark Naples yellow, vermillion red. Dissolved amber for your oils. Honey for watercolours.
